The wait is finally over! Tedashii comments “It has been a long process but well worth the fight to create something that will honor God and will serve you well. My desire was to have a project full of truth and still give you some of that T-Dot flavor you love, and I think it’s there.”
Part of my mission is to introduce Christian or holy Hip hop to hip hop heads all over the world. A lot of times, when I ask people how they feel about Christian artist, I get answers like “Jesus this, Jesus that don’t nobody want to hear that mess”. We have to admit there are some artists that don’t bring their best sacrifice, and when people hear their work they judge the whole genre by the weak product. But I’m proud to say there are some Emcees that have really been bringing the fire over the past few years. If you need proof, that can be found in the new Tedashii album “Identity Crisis”.
The concept of this album deals with mankind’s fall from his sinless state. Satan has deceived man from the beginning, into believing his life was incomplete. Even today in 2009, man is lost and confused. He has no idea who he is.
Now right away I need to say that I am a little disappointed my song “Transformers” feat. Lecrae and Trip Lee are not on the album. It is available as a bonus download at Reachrecords.com.
I remember when I first put Lecrae’s album “Rebel” into the CD changer, The Intro had me hypnotized. Now I’m listening to “Identity Crisis” and I’m wondering when “intros” got to be so hot! From jump T-Dot gives you a taste of that fire flow. The Beat is sick too. Now that’s how you open an album.
One of my favorite songs on the album is 26’s feat. Lecrae. The Hook on this track is a chopped and screwed line from a song by Lecrae called “Who’s the King” (If you don’t know that song you sleeping. Please get familiar lol). The song bangs and it has so much depth. You would think this is one of those songs where the rapper is talking about how cold his whip is, but really you get the opposite. It’s a call to drop that materialistic state of mind. The car you’re spending all that money on cannot save you. The next track Identity pt. 1 WE Fall takes us back to the start of it all with the story of Adam and Eve. This track paints a graphic picture of the events that led up to the fall of man and how sin made its way onto the scene of history.
More fire comes in the form of “Make War “which kicks off with a snippet of a John Piper sermon about making war against sin in your life. This is another track with so much depth, but it also knocks.
“Fresh” is a track for the B-boys; some old school flavor in your ear. The song gets into Yahshua converting us to his image by washing away sin.
This is another Fire album from the Reach Records Camp. It proves that Christians can produce quality Hip Hop that has a solid message and still knocks. Tedashii’s spit game is on point. He flows with authority, forcing the listener to really look at himself. This s not a flawless album, but it is a well rounded CD you can put in your system and leave it there, But what do you think? leave your commits below please.
